And more...

The Ottawa Senators are a hockey team based in Ottawa, Ontario. They are part of the Eastern Conference in the National Hockey League and play their home games in Scotiabank Place. The team was founded by Bruce Firestone and shares the same name as the original hockey team founded in 1883 which won 11 Stanley Cups. However the original Ottawa Senators disbanded in 1934, and the current team began playing in 1992. Although the current team does not always share the success of the original team, they are a popular team in Ontario.

The Ottawa Senators have enjoyed success, and although they have not won a Stanley Cup, the team qualified for the playoffs 12 times and won the President's trophy in 2003. Their fans are hugely supportive and the stands are packed with thousands of attendees each hockey match. Even though the team has had mixed success, the loyalty of the fans has not wavered even though the difficult times.

Like many other hockey teams, the Ottawa Senators have faced difficult times in 2007-2010. The team declined to a .500 level and John Paddock, the current head coach, was let go by Bryan Murray who began coaching temporarily. The next season, Craig Hartsburg coached the Senators, and the team played worse, not making the playoffs for the first time in 12 seasons. In the 2009-2010 season, things seemed to be looking up in an 11 game winning streak. Although they made the playoffs that year, the Senators lost the series in six games. The team spent the next season rebuilding, hoping to improve for the next years.

Every team has ups and downs and the Senators are no exception. By focusing on rebuilding and strengthening their strategies, they will be a more unified team that has a chance of winning the Stanley Cup. Their hard work has paid off in the past and hopes are high for the future of the Ottawa Senators.
