And more...

The Anaheim Ducks is one of the young teams to play professional ice hockey based at Anaheim, California, USA. They came into existence in 1993 after the Walt Disney Company decided to bring a team in name of their film 'The Mighty Ducks'. Disney later sold the team to Henry and Susan who retained the team at Anaheim and renamed it to 'Anaheim Ducks'.

Paul Kariya was the first drafted player of the team in 1993, and he stayed on till 2003 as the face of the franchise and Ron Wilson was their first coach. Along with Kariya, Teemu Selanne and Marc Chouinard th Anaheim Ducks was a potent team of the late 90s. Selanne was later traded and under new Coach Craig Hartsburg, Kariya's performance began to drop. They revived in 2003 under Mike Babcock to go on a Cinderella run entering the playoffs as the seventh place with a 40-27-9-6 record. They shock-swept the Red Wings in the first round, finished Dallas Stars in six games, and swept the Minnesota Wild again in the Western Conference finals. They eventually lost to New Jersey Devils in an interesting Stanley Cup Finals. Kariya left the team after the season, and the franchise slumped again for few more years before reviving again in 2005-06 under Head Coach Randy Carlyle and new owners. The Niedermayer Brothers along with new rookies and old fan favorite Selanne shut out teams to reach the Western Conference finals and lose to Edmonton Oilers. They came back even stronger with an enviable defense in 2006-07. The Ducks set a new record winning the first 16 games of the season in regulation, and created many more records in the same season. They went on to win the 2006-07 Stanley Cup for the first time defeating Ottawa Senators 4-1.

Anaheim Ducks home games are played at the indoor arena of Honda Center, which is quite close to the Disneyland and opposite to Angel Stadium across the Orange Freeway. It was previously called Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim or just 'The Pond'. The Arena has hosted two Stanley final cups in 2003 and 2007, and the Ducks have never lost a Finals game at home at this Arena. It has also hosted home games of Anaheim Storm and Los Angeles Clippers for some time. This arena is just walk able distance from both Anaheim Amtrak and Metrolink stations.

The Ducks came into the league in 1993 only, but they have appeared in two finals already, won one Stanley Championship in 2007, and have made it to the playoffs eight times. Their Championship win in 2007 brought the Stanley Cup for the first time to California and the first time to West Coast since 1925.
