The Cincinnati Bengals represent the city of Cincinnati, Ohio. They are members of the AFC's North Division and they became a NFL team in 1970 after the AFL and NFL merged into one organization. This organization was an expansion team that played in the American Football League 1968 years before joining the NFL.

The current Cincinnati Bengals team is derived from an earlier football organization that had the same name. This particular team played football between 1937 and 1941. Paul Brown was a man who understood the game of football and he is considered one of the greatest coaches in the history of this sport. He was the first owner of the Cincinnati Bengals and he gave the organization its name. Not only did he link the team's name with a former Cincinnati team, his decision was also influenced by a rare white Bengal Tiger that resided in the city's zoo.

Paul Brown chose the colors orange and black. The color orange was used by the former Cincinnati Bengals and he added black as the secondary color. Brown also came up with the logo which was a letter "B" that had orange and black tiger stripes.

Paul Brown had controlled the Cincinnati Bengals up until 1990. He then turned control of the organization over to his son Mike Brown. Paul Brown still managed certain aspects of the team up until the time he had passed away in 1991. The organization played in various stadiums throughout their franchise history. Riverfront Stadium was the first arena to host the Cincinnati Bengals. Currently the team operates out of Paul Brown Stadium.

The Cincinnati Bengals went to the Super Bowl two times during the 1980s. They played against the San Francisco 49ers in 1982 and 1989. They lost both games to the 49ers. Some notable and memorable players for the Cincinnati Bengals include Boomer Esiason, Anthony Munoz, former wide receiver Chris Henry, Carson Palmer, Ken Anderson and Chad Ochocinco.
