Tom about the Chicago Bears:
Having amassed a massive nine NFL Championships, having the most number of victories than any other team in the NFL and having the most Hall of Famers, Chicago Bears remain and will always remain as one of the most illustrious franchises ever in the NFL. Founded in Decatur, Illinois, in 1919, the Chicago Bears are members of the North Division of the National Football Conference and are the second oldest team in the NFL, next to the Arizona Cardinals. The Bears play their home games at Chicago's Soldier Field, located next to Lake Michigan and boasting of a seating capacity of over 100,000.
One of the most proudest moment ever for any die hard fan of the Bears is Super Bowl XX, which remains the one and only time the Chicago Bears won the Super Bowl. With the majority of the 70,000 odd supporters in the Louisiana Superdome urging them on, the Bears thrashed New England Patriots with a then record breaking margin 46 - 10.
The Bears have a long standing, fierce rivalry with the Green Bay Packers. The 'Bears-Packers rivalry' as it is called, dates back to 1921 and stretches over 183 games and remains the league's longest rivalry. The Bears hold a slim edge over the Packers, 92-85-6. The largest home win for the Bears also came against the Packers in 1980 when they whipped the visitors 61-7 at Soldier Field.
The Chicago outfit had to endure a period of mediocrity from 1993-2003, Lovie Smith took over as the head coach in 2004 and stated three goals - to end the Packer's decade of dominance over the Bears, win the North Division and to win the Super Bowl. By the end of 2005, he had accomplished the first two goals in his checklist and even came agonizingly close to the third one when the Bears lost in Super Bowl XLI to Indianapolis Colts. With their resurgence under Lovie Smith, that includes appearances in the playoffs and the trip to the Super Bowl, the Chicago Bears earned the nickname 'the new Monsters of the Midway'.
