The Minnesota Timberwolves are a basketball team based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They are a team that plays in the Northwest Division in the Western Conference of the NBA founded by Glen Taylor in 1989. They played in the Metrodome in the beginning, but in 1990 they moved to the Target Center. Int the first years of existing the Minnesota Timberwolves struggled, but reached the playoffs from 1997 to 2004 after acquiring Kevin Garnet in 1995. They reached the Western Conference Finals in 2004.

The first game of this team was in November 3, 1989 against the Seattle SuperSonics. Their first coach was Bill Musselman. One of the worst seasons happened when they had Jimmy Rodgers as the team coach. They had a 15-67 record in 1991-1992. In 1994, Glen Taylor bought the Minnesota Timberwolves. He named Keving McHale as general manager. In 1995, Flip Saunders was the coach of the team and they selected Kevin Garnet from the draft. In 1996, they acquired Stephon Marbury from the Milwaukee Bucks. They reached the playoffs in 1996 and 1997. In 1998, the team gave Kevin Garnet a $126 million contract. They were acused of irresponsible spending, for the NBA endured a 4-month lockout.

In the 2003-04 NBA season, they were one of the most powerful teams in the NBA. But the team was defeated in the finals of the Western Conference by the Los Angeles Lakers. Keving Garnet won his first MVP award in this season. In 2009, they picked Ricky Rubio over from Spain. Kurt Rambis was fired as a coach in 2011. Kevin Love grabbed a record of 31 points and 31 rebounds in 30 games in 2010. In the 2010-2011 NBA season, Love played in the All Star game. Kosta Koufos and Corey Brewer were traded to the New York Nicks on February, 2011. This year, they had a 121-102 record, the worst record of the season.
